A 39-year-old woman was arrested for reportedly giving her daughter to a man who sold her meth in 2022 and then lying to police about where the girl was.
KOCO-TV reports that Ashley Rowland recently told Moore Police Department officers that she traded her 2-year-old daughter for meth.
The position of the daughter is unknown. She is said to have said the man’s name is Carlos, but she hasn’t seen Carlos or her daughter since April 2022, when Rowland is said to have given the girl away. She said Carlos might be the girl’s dad, but she wasn’t sure.
She allegedly couldn’t name any of Carlos’s specific traits or give a very good description. Rowland was said to have thought Carlos went back to Mexico.
According to KFOR-TV When people from the Department of Human Services went to Moore to find Rowland and asked where her daughter was, Rowland reportedly said that the girl was “with her father in Georgia.” Rowland was questioned again by police, and she is said to have given a different story.
In a statement to KFOR, the Oklahoma Department of Human Services said, “Life situations like the ones described in this affidavit are heartbreaking and impossible to imagine.
OK Human Services is worried about this child’s safety, just like everyone else in the neighborhood. Our office is grateful to our law enforcement partners for continuing to work to find her and seek justice in her disappearance.
We can’t talk about cases because of state and federal privacy laws. The Oklahoma County Jail booked Rowland, but records show she was freed on bond.
