Because of the COLA raise, people who get SSDI will get 2.5% more from the Social Security Administration (SSA). The cost-of-living adjustment boost will not come with any of the November or December checks, though.
The only benefit that will get the COLA increase this year is Supplemental Security Income, which is for disabled people. It will happen on December 31, 2024.
This month’s last SSDI check will be sent on the 27th. Remember that there are a few things you need to do in order to get this Social Security Disability Insurance payment in the United States.
Requirements to get SSDI on November 27:
Your Social Security check or direct deposit will be sent to:
- People with disability insurance who were eligible for this payment after May 1997
- people with disabilities who do not get Supplemental Security Income
- disabled people whose birthday is between July 21 and August 31
Of course, you have to keep your eligibility because you have to tell if your disability gets better. There is no doubt that this can affect your status.
So, let SSA know right away if your situation changes in a way that is important. Payments will range from $1,542 on average to $3,822 at most.
Social Security paydays for SSDI in December
If you got disability benefits before May 1997, your next payment will be on December 3. But if you got benefits after that date, there is still a way for you to win.
You must be getting both SSDI and SSI at the same time, though. In this case, you will get your Supplemental Security Income payment on November 29, 2024, and your Disability Insurance check on December 3, 2024. After that, there will be three more rounds of payments on Wednesday.
Like with the Nov. 27 payment, how Social Security sends you money depends on the date you were born. People who retired and have a condition and whose birthday is between December 1 and December 10 get money on December 11.
December 18 if you were born between November 11 and December 20. Or December 24 if you were born between December 21 and December 31. The raise in the COLA will be added to the January payments for people who are retired or getting SSDI or SSI.
