This pair of students and teachers from central Florida is taking over TikTok, Reddit, and other popular gossip sites. It all began when students wanted to know why their professor quit in the middle of the term.
Professor Travis Meade taught computer science at the University of Central Florida and coached the UCF programming team.
He had worked for the school for over ten years.
There are rumors going around school that Professor Meade dated a Teaching Assistant in a bad way.
Because of the disturbing claim, this TA, who is said to be called Kaylee, has been given the name “hello kitty TA” online.
Prof. Meade’s office had a wall with Hello Kitty coloring pages. The color pages look like they were drawn in a childish way. It had the words “Happy Birthday, Dad” written on it, and Kaylee had signed it.
As pictures of the two sitting together outside of class spread on the internet, the plot grew stronger. Meade is seen touching her back, giving her his jacket, and acting like they are a normal couple.
Some students say they have known about this link for a while and call it “obvious.”
Someone who was in Professor Meade’s class with him and the TA said, “I was in class when they met for the first time.” She was in our lab too.
She was always the first one there and the last one to leave when I went. “At first, I thought she was just trying to find out more, but after a while, I thought it was weird,” said Jordan Urman, a student at UCF.
Jordan says he saw them walking across campus together before.
When rumors started going around school and online, Kaylee is said to have posted on social media that the rumors were not true and that she is engaged.
Some people, though, do not believe it and think it is all a lie. Others think that Professor Meade is the person she is engaged to.
Students care so much about the pair that they are making merchandise and sharing memes on different social networks. Some people say they are dressing up as “professor” and “hello kitty girl” this year as a couple for Halloween.
The students want to know the whole truth. Some people say Meade was fired, while others say he left UCF for a better job. But a lot of people think he was caught in the act.
WDBO tried to get the university to say something. We got Meade’s resignation letter, which said, “Because of recent events, I would like to step down from my position as a lecturer at the University of Central Florida.”
