Woman and her 2 children were burned by deputies after being ‘humiliated’ in custody dispute

In Florida, deputies said a woman killed her 9-month-old baby and tried to kill her 2-year-old son because she felt “humiliated” over a child custody disagreement.

It is scary to see Esther Thelus buying a lighter and a red gas tank at a convenience store. Deputies say she later used these items to set herself and her children on fire.

Africa Cornelius, who knew about the terrible event, said it was “heartbreaking.”

“Even though I was not there, hearing that someone set themselves on fire shows how hard life can be, but never that hard for you to take it that far, especially with the baby.” I think that is crazy.

Deputies say that Thelus had two children: a son who is 2 years old but whose name has not been made public and a baby boy named Davinci Joseph who is 9 months old.

Police said that Thelus and Davinci were going to move to South Florida, but Thelus wanted to leave her older kid with his father. But his father and mother allegedly wanted a DNA test before taking custody. Deputies said that this “humiliation” was what drove Thelus to do what he did.

“Keep the kids out of it no matter how hard things get.” She said, “Kids do not deserve it.”

Thelus is said to have sprayed gasoline on her kids and then set herself and them on fire. The two-year-old got slight burns, but Thelus got burns all over her body. He later died after being burned on more than 90% of his body.

Thelus is still in intensive care at Orlando Regional Medical Center, but the two-year-old is expected to get better soon.

Cornelius replied, “I do not agree with you.” Kids do not deserve it when life gets tough. Setting my child on fire to get back at me would be crazy if it were me and my kid.
