A Florida manufacturing plant is being shut down – with the potential for the loss of 145 jobs

I have been writing about Florida businesses opening and closing for a while now, and I have noticed that people are interested in stories about manufacturing plant openings and closings in Florida.

Manufacturing jobs are seen as a sign of the state’s economic health by some Floridians. There have been good and bad times for industry in Florida this year.

I have written about things like how Aura Aero Inc. created 1,000 jobs in Florida and how the Florida company that made Aviara Boats shut down. And now, yet another factory in Florida is closing. It might also take jobs.

About Dart Industries, Inc.: This business makes goods for people to use. Take Tupperware as an example. Wilsonart is another one. About 10,000 people work for the company, which is based in Orlando, Florida.

Glassdoor users give the business 3.2 out of 5 stars. Also, 56% would tell a friend about it. Some reviews said nice things about coworkers, pay, and time off, while others said bad things about management.

About the closing and the chance of layoffs: A warning letter from November 1, 2024, says that the business is shutting down its Orlando location at 14901 South Orange Blossom Trail.

Therefore, 145 jobs at that facility will be eliminated, and the process is set to begin on December 31, 2024. However, the letter indicated that some workers might be needed for longer.

In the letter, it also says that the business plans to sell some assets. This could mean that some employees will get job offers from that business, but “details relating to such offers are not known at this time.”

There are no bumping rights for any of the workers.
