Heldenville showed they were good during the regular season, and they didn’t miss a beat in the playoffs either. On Friday, they beat the Luther Lions 38–14. The Wolverines’ win wasn’t a surprise since they haven’t lost yet this season.
Second-year player Abe Gomez led Holdenville. He ran for 112 yards and three scores. Gomez was used to making big plays; he ran for 50 yards on a single sprint.
Holdenville was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 335 running yards. Gomez was just one part of a tough run game.
The team has had 22 straight games since the beginning of the season in which they ran for at least 217 yards. That strong showing was nothing new for them.
The dominant defense led to the win; they got into the backfield three times and sacked the quarterback. Sawyer Jeffrey sacked Luther’s quarterback twice because he was so focused on him.
Martin Luther still had a great game thanks to Colt Mccaslin, who ran for 45 yards and caught passes for 76 yards and two scores.
Their record now stands at 11-0, and it was their seventh straight win at home. As for Luther, they are now 5-6 and have a losing record.
Heldenville is going to play Colcord on Friday. Holdenville has given up 8.9 points per game, and Colcord has given up 9.2 points per game.
This means that any points scored will be well won. Right now, Luther doesn’t have any more games planned.
