ASU football has been one of the biggest surprises of the 2024 college football season so far. It is their first year in the Big 12. Team after team has been shocked by Kenny Dillingham and his crew. With a record of 6-2, the Sun Devils have already secured their spot in a bowl game.
The weekend ahead will be a little tougher for Arizona State as it gets ready to play UCF. Brandon Marcello of 247 Sports says that star running back Cam Skattebo will not play on Saturday because he hurt his shoulder during the week.
“Sources tell @CBSSports/@247Sports that Arizona State running back Cam Skattebo (shoulder) will not play Saturday against UCF,” Marcello wrote on X, which used to be Twitter. “The seventh-best rusher in the country is averaging 125.1 yards per game.”
Skattebo is the attacking engine and the team’s heart and soul. So far this season, he has run for 1,001 yards, which ranks seventh in the country, and scored 11 scores.
Also, quarterback Sam Leavitt likes to throw to him a lot. He has 404 receiving yards and two scores, making him the second-best receiver on the Sun Devils’ team.
The offensive line for Arizona State will have a hard time on Saturday without Skattebo. The good news is that UCF has had a terrible season so far.
The Knights’ defense is not very good, and they had lost five straight games before beating Arizona in Week 10.
