In honor of Veterans Day, Charlie’s Bakery & Creamery held a festival called “Families United: A Veterans Day Festival” on November 10 during the celebration.
There was music, a presentation of the flag, a local market fair, stalls for children, and Charlie’s ice cream during the event that took place in the afternoon.
Through the Brain Warriors Foundation of America, the proceeds were used to support activities aimed at improving veterans’ brain health.
Danielle McCarthy, who lives in Curry Ford West and is the proprietor of Loretta Josephine Boutique, was the one who came up with the idea.
She made contact with the Curry Ford West board, and it was determined that Charlie’s Bakery & Creamery would be the location of the event.
McCarthy made the statement that “if it were not for our veterans, we would not be here tonight.”
The owner of Curry Ford West, Tricia Hage, has a father-in-law who served in the Marine Corps, according to Danielle McGonigal of Charlie’s. Additionally, many veterans call Curry Ford West their home.
A number of other organizations, such as the Elks Lodge, the University of Central Florida School of Nursing, and the Orange County Supervisor of Elections office, were also present.
According to Stephanie Ziglar, the director of Curry Ford West, they have expressed their desire to make the festival an annual event.
During the Thanksgiving holiday, Charlie’s also offered pies to raise money for local charities that support veterans.
