In Florida, police have arrested one woman for murder and are looking for another woman who they say live-streamed the killing on social media.
Martin, 34, was shot several times outside of her home in Sanford, Florida, on Tuesday, November 5. The Sanford Police Department said in a statement that she died.
The person who was killed, Savon Chantay Tyler, 35, was arrested and charged with murder. Sanford police said on Friday that they had charged another lady, Lakevia Davonna Pringle, with streaming the attack on social media.
Tyler and Martin were arguing, which is what led to the killing, according to cops in Sanford.
The suspect’s family told WESH that she was a photographer and that she and Tyler had a long-running argument over pictures she had taken of that person.
The victim’s aunt told the news source that people made comments online, but she did not give any more information. She said that after some “back and forth” between the commenters, things “spiraled out of control.”
Martin livestreamed a video on her Facebook page on Tuesday night, just hours before the killing. In it, she said over and over that she was going to Sanford to “beat” someone, but the name of the person she wanted to “beat” was not clear.
This is what Sanford police said in their statement: Martin drove to Tyler’s house, where they continued their argument verbally before it got physical.
The Miami Herald said that Pringle, who they said was Tyler’s girlfriend, also recorded the event live on Facebook, citing an arrest document.
The statement says that Tyler was seen coming out of the house with a child’s baseball bat and a gun, then putting the gun down on the ground in the livestream from Pringle’s phone.
According to the statement, Martin gets hold of the bat at one point during the fight between the victim and the suspect, as reported by The Miami Herald. Tyler is said to then grab the gun and shoot Martin.
“During the livestream, Pringle can be heard telling Tyler to keep fighting, which is what happened and killed Martin,” Sanford police said in a statement Friday.
Martin’s three children and her family set up a GoFundMe page to help pay for her funeral. They said she was “affectionately known as ‘Bubbles,'” and that her sudden death was “a tragic loss.”
Online court records for Seminole County show that Tyler is being held without bond on a charge of planned murder. From what I can tell, she has pleaded not guilty.
By Friday afternoon, Pringle still had not been caught. Sanford Police say that on November 8, Pringle was given a warrant for one count of first-degree murder with intent to kill.
