According to the Dallas Police Department, a Dallas police officer brought himself in for a warrant, stating that he illegally distributed footage from his body camera.
Officer Ali Toppa, who is 28 years old and works for the Dallas Police Department, turned himself in to the Irving Police Department on Thursday.
He was wanted for a misdemeanor known as “Unauthorized Release of Body Worn Camera Recording,” which is a warrant out of Dallas.
The bond for Toppa was set at $500 earlier on Thursday evening.
Officer Toppa has served with the Dallas Police Department since September 2020, according to a statement released by the department.
He was specifically assigned to the Northwest Patrol Division. According to the DPD, Toppa is currently on administrative leave while an inquiry into internal affairs progresses.
