Helping People Build Homes As part of their yearly “Home for the Holidays” build, Greater Orlando and Osceola County broke ground on a new home in Kissimmee on Friday morning.
This year, the project is all about Gloria and Francisco, who will soon own their own home. Experts from Volunteers for Habitat are working together to make sure that Gloria and Francisco’s family can enjoy the holiday season in a safe, low-cost house.
Glory said, “I do not even know what to say; we are so excited.” “This is really important to me and my family!”
The build shows how much Habitat cares about its goal to give families stable housing and make the community stronger.
Habitat for Humanity Greater Orlando and Osceola County’s president and CEO is Catherine Steck McManus. She says they want to be an important part of the community.
“We need to make sure everyone is informed, has power, and is involved,” McManus said. People who want to take our lessons do not have to buy a house from Habitat for Humanity. That is something we really want everyone to do.
It is the group’s first home built in Osceola County. It works together with the local building giant Williams Company. For the fifth year in a row, Williams Company and its suppliers and subcontractors will give free goods and labor for the annual Home for the Holidays build.
This year, though, they are doing twice as much by making two safe, low-cost Habitat homes in just a few weeks.
The president of the company, Chris Rollins, says that every build is unique.
“Having a safe place to build a family and memories is important,” Rollins said.
“You know people who are becoming future leaders—Gloria and Francisco’s three kids—who knows what they will be in 20 years.” “The base of a house is where everything starts.”
