Deputies from the Tangipahoa Parish Sheriff’s Office apprehended four additional individuals at the residence where they discovered the fugitive Jamarcus Cyprian; this occurred on Wednesday, when they were successful in recapturing the fugitive.
According to statements made by Sheriff Gerald Sticker on Thursday, police were carrying out a search warrant on the residence in connection with a separate investigation when they discovered Cyprian hiding in a closet.
On Tuesday afternoon, while conducting routine surveillance of an apartment complex located on Rufus Bankston Road in the Hammond region, investigators witnessed a shooting. This is what sparked the investigation.
The deputies quickly initiated a pursuit of the vehicle, however no one was wounded in the incident. Despite this, the suspects managed to escape.
Detectives were able to locate Cyprian, who was hiding in a utility closet and armed with a revolver, once they arrived at the residence on Quick Boulevard, where they were conducting their investigation into the incident.
During that time, there were four other persons who were present in the apartment, and they were detained on charges of being principal to escape. They were also arrested on charges related to guns.
According to the sheriff, additional arrests are anticipated in connection with the sheltering of Cyprian.
