Weekly highlights for cases in Brevard County in the FWC Division of Law Enforcement are provided.

The county of Brevard in Florida — During the course of the last week, the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission dealt with a number of instances in Brevard County.

The accompanying report provides an overview of some of these cases; however, it does not include all of the actions taken by the Division of Law Enforcement.

When Officer St. Martin was conducting patrols at Sebastian Inlet State Park, he witnessed fisherman harvesting snook from a covert place.

A resource inspection was carried out by Officer St. Martin, who stopped the subjects as they were leaving the north jetty after conducting the inspection.

The subject was cited in accordance with the findings of the inspection, which revealed that one of them was in possession of a snook that was improperly proportioned.

When Lieutenant Lightsey received information that a group was firing a firearm from an airboat, he immediately responded to the situation.

After locating the airboat, he carried out an examination of the available resources. There was one alligator that was discovered to be in the possession of the subjects.

After the investigation was completed and the individuals were questioned, one of them revealed that they had shot the alligator with a handgun, despite the fact that they were aware that doing so was against the law.

A notice to appear was issued for the illegal taking of alligator by a law enforcement officer. While at Sebastian Inlet State Park, Officer St. Martin witnessed a number of individuals engaging in fishing activities from a vessel.

The officer was able to observe one of them catching a snook, taking a picture with it, and then placing it in a cooler while he was hidden in a disguised area. After that, Officer St. Martin saw the same individual catch a second snook, snap a picture with it, and place it in the same cooler as the first one.

As a result of this second snook, the subject exceeded the daily bag restriction that he had set for snook. As soon as the vessel arrived back at the boat ramp, the officer made contact with the individual in order to carry out a resource inspection.

Initially, the other individuals aboard the vessel claimed responsibility for the other snook; but, following a brief questioning, the individual who was responsible for catching both snook admitted their guilt. The subject was cited in the appropriate manner.

According to Officer St. Martin, he witnessed a suspect harvesting two snook and then beginning to fillet one of them on the rocks.

The law enforcement officer made contact with the individual, who was aware that he had over his bag limit and was attempting to conceal one of the snooks by filleting it.

Despite the fact that the officer had asked him to follow him back to the truck, the subject denied capturing both fish and fled the scene quickly. Following the discovery of the topic the following day, charges were brought against them.

During the course of his duties at Sebastian Inlet State Park, Officer St. Martin witnessed a vehicle departing from the park while carrying fishing equipment.

Officer St. Martin had a conversation with the driver of the vehicle, who disclosed that they had a large number of fish in their truck. An examination of the fish’s resources revealed that it was a snook that was undersized. The subject was cited in the appropriate manner.

Officer Ross took action in response to a report coming from an unknown source, which stated that a person was keeping a juvenile sea turtle as a pet at his residence.

After that, he followed up with the person who filed the complaint, who indicated that various members of the community had informed the subject that he was not permitted to keep a sea turtle. After arriving at the property, Officer Ross became aware of the sea turtle that was contained within a tank.

In order to discuss this infraction, he got in touch with the topic. Additionally, the subject was cited in accordance with the removal of the sea turtle and its subsequent transfer to a local biologist for the purpose of rehabilitation.
