A&M-Texarkana Presents Young Writers Workshop

TEXARKANA, Texas – Texas A&M University-Texarkana and The East Texas Writing Project are sponsoring the 28th annual Young Writers Workshop July 16-27. The workshop, which is open to students entering the 1st grade through the 12th, focuses on age-appropriate material for each grade level. Grades 1st-2nd: Welcome to Whoville
Grades 3rd-4th: Food for Thought
Grades 5th-6th: Monsters in the Closet
Grades 7th-8th: Be the Change
Grades 9th-12th: Tales from the Peculiar

The cost for the two-week workshop is just $40 per participant. Dr. Corrine Hinton, who runs the program at A&M-Texarkana, says that while many universities charge between $150 and $300 for this type of program, A&M-Texarkana intentionally sets prices much lower. “We want to give as many children as we can the opportunity to come to this program. Writers of Texarkana, USA to Meet Thursday

Texarkana, USA – The group, Writers of Texarkana, USA, will meet Thursday at 6:00 p.m. for their monthly meeting at 915 E 3rd Street, Texarkana, Arkansas.  This will be the third meeting of the group held at the Red Letter Church location. Any writer of any style is welcome to attend meetings.  During the meetings writers discuss techniques, styles, and complete writing exercises.  Writers also share short stories, poems, manuscripts, music lyrics, and other forms of writing with the group for feedback.  Writers are not required to share any work if they do not wish to do so, but all are welcome. Successful First Meeting of Writers of Texarkana, USA

Texarkana, USA- Promptly at six this afternoon a group of poets, songwriters, fiction and non-fiction writers assembled for the first meeting of Writers of Texarkana, USA.  People came as far away as Queen City to attend what was the inaugural meeting for the group.   Some carried manuscripts, others artwork, some brought books, others brought computers, and some just brought an interest in trying to improve their own craft. After brief introductions, the group quickly broke into small discussion about the best way to hold meetings, agenda ideas, training ideas, and even books that would help other writers were discussed.  The room was filled with over fourteen published writers, and writers on the verge of publication. Writers of Texarkana, USA to Hold First Meeting

Texarkana, USA- Dust off your poems, dust off your short stories, dust off your fiction and non-fiction because there’s a writer’s group in Texarkana again.  There have been several groups in Texarkana over the years where writers have been able to meet, share their work, obtain feedback and give feedback.  Some have attended these groups and have never put anything up to be read, while others have work to share weekly.  Whatever your desire is, if you’re a writer, there’s a place for you with Writers of Texarkana, USA once again.
