Spring Lake Park Project Requires Relocation of Fowl

TEXARKANA, TX- The City of Texarkana, Texas has partnered with a local contractor, Little’s Critter, to relocate approximately 30 ducks and geese from Spring Lake Park that are considered and or identified as domesticated. Originally, Texas Parks and Wildlife instructed the city to leave the animals at Spring Lake Park during the dredging of the lake. The ducks and geese were expected to naturally migrate as necessary. Upon a follow up observation, TPW recommended that the domesticated animals be relocated. The relocation began yesterday evening, July 26, 2017 and will take approximately 3-5 days. SPRING LAKE PARK POND DREDGING SCHEDULED FOR JULY

 
TEXARKANA, TX- Beginning in July 2017, the City of Texarkana, Texas will work in conjunction with Tatum Excavating Company (TEC) to dredge the Spring Lake Park Pond. The project is part of the City’s current Capital Improvement Plan and is estimated to cost approximately $875,000. Dredging activities will bring the pond to a depth of 10 feet, and the pond will be dewatered to facilitate the construction efforts. The project will also include the installation of gabion baskets with rock to support and enhance the perimeter of the pond. Annual pond maintenance will not be conducted this year considering the scope and time frame of the dredging project. Continue Reading →

Parks and Recreation Department offers Movies in the Park and more in October

Texarkana, USA –  The City of Texarkana, Texas Parks and Recreation Department will host a series of Movies in the Park at Spring Lake Park each Thursday in October. The line-up includes The Jungle Book on October 6th, Angry Birds on October 13th, Goosebumps on October 20th, and The Town That Dreaded Sundown on October 27th. Movies will start at 7 p.m. near the airplane, and are free and open to the public.  Participants are encouraged to bring a blanket or lawn chair. Refreshments will be sold. The annual fall festival will be held at Spring Lake Park on Thursday, October 20th from 5:00 p.m.- 7:00 p.m. and will include a hay ride, pumpkin painting, a costume contest, games and more.
