An Orlando woman has not been seen or heard from in almost two years, but now her friend has been charged with her murder.
Police in Orlando say that 42-year-old Gisselle Victoria-Gonzalez was arrested and charged with second-degree murder, fiddling with evidence, and grand theft.
Investigators say Victoria-Gonzalez was the first person to report Runyleidy Medina-Pacheco, 42, missing on December 27, 2022.
Around 1:30 p.m. that day, Victoria-Gonzalez called police and said she had not seen her friend since Christmas of that year.
At an apartment building on Curry Ford Road, the two women had been living together.
As the investigation into Medina-Pacheco’s disappearance went on, police said they found many problems with Victoria-Gonzalez’s account of what happened.
Police said they found a lot of proof that a violent incident had happened at their home after a search warrant was carried out. At that time, though, no candidates were named.
As the case went on, more and more local, state, and federal police departments got involved. Eventually, they found that Victoria-Gonzalez had moved to Hartford, Connecticut.
According to reports, an extra conversation with Victoria-Gonzalez gave police enough reason to charge her with killing Medina-Pacheco.
Authorities said they still have not found the body of the missing woman.
Anyone with information about the case should call the Crimeline at 800-423-TIPS (8477) or the Homicide Unit of the Orlando Police Department.
