Northern California region was ravaged by several days of strong gusts, resulting in an 88 MPH wind being recorded

California’s San Francisco Bay Area – The Bay Area and the heart of the Central Coast are under a Red Flag Warning from the National Weather Service until 7 AM Thursday.

Strong offshore winds and very dry conditions are making the risk of fires higher across the region. Wind gusts of 30 to 40 mph are likely at higher elevations through Wednesday evening.

Early in the day, wind gusts hit as high as 88 mph at Mt. St. Helena. In other places, gusts were common and ranged from 35 to 50 mph. In some places of the North Bay, the humidity drops to just 10%, which makes fires more likely.

Due to poor humidity recovery, the Red Flag Warning will stay in effect tonight. Things should get better slowly by Thursday morning.
