People who are against abortion and want to keep Florida’s rules in place gathered in Orlando to watch the results.

Someone from WPTV named Zitlali Solache is in Orlando at the Rosen Plaza Hotel talking to people who are against Amendment 4.

President of Liberty Counsel Action John Stempberger said that he and many other people are glad the change did not pass. Even though they know Amendment 4 did not pass, he and others still call it a gain.

“It is an amazing victory, and what this really means is that Florida is rejecting a strict abortion law.” “This amendment would have basically let abortion happen without any rules,” Stemberger said.

The wording of the amendment, on the other hand, worried Stemberger and many other pro-life Floridians.

They said that words like “viability” and “health care provider” are not clear enough and that the wording is misleading. They were also afraid about how the amendment would affect taxpayers’ money.

“It does not matter whether you are pro-choice or pro-life, it is a bad amendment,” he said. “It does not represent the mainstream of want Floridians want with abortion law, and so that is why it is going to be defeated tonight at the polls.”

As well, Dr. Tamberly McCarus, an OB-GYN, is speaking out against the planned change. “All safety rules are thrown out the window,” McCarus said. The law makes our state one of those places where you can have an abortion at any time, any place, for any reason.

Sixty percent of voters had to say “yes” for the change to become part of the state’s Constitution, but only 57.1% did.
