A federal prison term of ten years has been handed down to Luis Miguel Plaza, who is 34 years old and hails from Orlando.

He was found guilty of possessing fentanyl with the intent to distribute it as well as distributing it. On July 24, 2024, Plaza entered a guilty plea to the allegations against him.

According to the materials filed in the court, the Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) carried out an investigation with the assistance of an undercover agent and confidential informants, which resulted in multiple controlled purchases of fentanyl from Plaza.

Undercover agent and confidential informant were the recipients of more than 1,100 tablets that included fentanyl and para-fluorofentanyl, which is an analogue of fentanyl. These pills were sold by Plaza between the months of August 2023 and January 2024.

It was discovered in February 2024 that Plaza was in possession of more than seven thousand pills that contained the drugs. According to the source, Plaza had the intention of selling these pills to a confidential informant.

The Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) conducted an investigation into the case, and Assistant United States Attorney Diane Hu was the one who brought charges against the defendant.
