A Red Flag Warning from the National Weather Service is in place until 7 a.m. Thursday for most of the Bay Area and the Central Coast.

A high risk of fire is caused by extremely dry conditions and strong ocean winds. In the North Bay Interior Mountains, where a Wind Advisory is in effect until Wednesday at 3 p.m., peak gusts of 60 to 70 mph have been recorded.

The winds have been getting stronger. Wind gusts of up to 64 mph were recorded on Mt. St. Helena, and 44 mph were recorded on Mt.

Umunhum. In places above 1,000 feet, gusts of 25 to 40 mph are happening. The area is facing a higher risk of fire because the humidity is dropping.
