Fouke, AR– Today from 6:30 p.m. to 8:30p.m. a prayer vigil will be held in the town of Fouke at the local EZ-Mart. The store will be closed for business during this time. Flowers and cards may be brought and any donations will be given directly to Christa’s family.
Christa lost her life on February 2, sometime around 2:00 a.m. She was found unresponsive at the store. Later that day a twelve-year-old male was arrested in association with the crime.
Christa was a graduate of Genoa Central High School and had been a child care assistant at First Baptist Church in Texarkana, Texas. She lived in her hometown of Fouke. Soon after reports became public, friends started taking to Facebook to discuss and mourn the life of this twenty-one-year old young lady. It was quickly apparent that she was loved and respected by many. Mayor Terry Purvis released this statement at 10:30 on Facebook:
I do not even know how to explain what happened here in our City early this morning. Please be in prayer for all the families involved in the tragic and senseless killing of this young girl. I am just shocked. No words can express the grief we feel here in our City. We are all family here, and hurt so bad for the families and the victim. Again please be in prayer for the family and our City.
In addition to attending the prayer vigil and for those unable to attend, a GoFundMe page has been set up to help with funeral expenses. Please consider making a donation and keeping Christa’s family, friends, and the city of Fouke in your prayers:
